What I thought about the carnival.

On the 15th July 2006, Mitcheldean carnival took place; it started at
the secondary school (Dene Magna) and finished at the local playing field and community centre. The whole
village and many people from the forest turned up and they all thought it was a great success.
As brownies, all of the pack walked behind the floats, this year we
dressed up as flower fairies and looked beautiful. Preparing for the carnival was
hard but fun to be a part of, this is because we had to make massive flower masks
for us to wear, and had to try on skirts that were made out of lots of different
types of material. We had watering cans with sweets to put in them; we also had
magic wands that had tassels on the ends of them.
On the day, all of the brownies had their faces painted yellow and were
allowed to have an insect drawn on them, I had a butterfly! All of the waiting and
preparing was finally over and it was time to go to the school field and stand in our
category.
There were loads of fancy dress people and they all looked great (I
really liked the Wizard of Oz, because Dorothy was played by a man!)Many beautiful and funny floats passed, but my favourite had to be the
Early Learners "Land of make believe" float. They won and they definitely
deserved to! Sadly we did not win the walking section, but we didnt mind because
we had all enjoyed ourselves.
Once we had found our parents/family we could go on rides. One of my
favourites was twister, you spin in a cart really fast and you think that you are
going to either fall out your cart, hit someone or one of the helpers around the
edge, or bang into another cart. There were many other rides like, a walk through
ghost house, a boy in my class told his mum to get the man to make this talking head
to say my name, and of course I came out screaming! Also there was a ride called the
cage, I was too scared to go on it as it lifts up and spins you around when you’re
stood up.
Towards the night there is a disco for all ages. As usual I went, and
met up with lots of my friends, its easy for me to get there because I live nearby. Its amazing at night, all the pretty lights are on and the
ghost house is extra
spooky!
After an exhausting but fun night, I went to bed and dreamt about the
wonderful day I had experienced. (it was a bit hard to at first, as the music from
the disco was
still
going.)
So, there's a taster of how I felt and what I did at
Mitcheldean carnival. I go every year and each time it is a blast! If you don't
believe me, come next year and you will see for yourself!
