Pack Holiday - Deer Park 2006
16th - 18th June 2006
We arrived at the Deer Park Cowley on Friday afternoon and got all our
bags out of the car. When everyone was there we took our bags up to
our rooms and chose our beds. I had a top bunk and Maggie had the
bottom one. Downstairs we got to choose a folder to keep all the
activities, such as quizzes, that we did in there and diaries that we
wrote each day. We made a front cover for the folder, a Wellie Peg,
and a name tag. For my Wellie Peg I chose an Eeyore design. We had
tea and some people helped with the cooking. I was one of these
people and with my friend Beth, made pastry for the pudding. After
tea we went out on a night walk in the forest across the road. It
was quite dark but we didn't take torches! We played Pooh Sticks
with lolly sticks. Surprisingly, my stick came first! We went to
bed that night and didn't go to sleep for a long, long time because
we were so excited.
On Saturday morning we all woke up feeling a bit tired and went down to
have breakfast. After breakfast we went grass-sledging. This was
really cool and great fun! After this we had lunch which was pizzas
which we made ourselves. Then, we played the 'Piglet Wide' game. We
had to make a stretcher for Tigger and we made a 'friend' for Piglet
using sticks and string. Then we sent a message to the rest of the
group using flags. The message said "Watch out for Heffalumps!"
We went back to the building and drew some pictures then it was time
for tea. I was one of the hostesses. We had spaghetti bolognese and
unfortunately I dropped some! That night we went outside to have a
camp fire. We sang songs and toasted marshmallows. It was really
good fun. We all slept much better that night!
On Sunday morning we had bacon sandwiches for breakfast, then we had a
special service for Father's Day. We had our lunch and then packed
our cases. We played on the playground until our parents came to
collect us. I was really sad it was all over and I will never forget
this great event.
